European Tour

A regular look at the European competitions that pock mark the league fixtures from now until the Christmas.

In the Champions League everyone has played each other once and in Group A Chelsea have a 100% record beating Barcelona last week in the crunch match. Earlier Barca were held by Werder Bremen and these two sides will be looking to turn the tables on The Blues in the 2nd half of the fixtures.

Bayern Munich also have a 100% record in Group B. Liverpool and PSV Eindhoven share top spot in Group C with Turkish outfit Galatasaray surprisingly struggling so far.

Valencia lead Group D ahead of Roma, whilst in Group E Lyon lead Real Madrid who have recovered after losing to the French team first by beating Kyiv 5-1 and Steaua 4-1 since.

In Group F Man U lead Celtic, and should qualify easily, but so should the Scots whilst FC Copenhagen and Benfica struggle to make an impact. CSKA Moscow had a great win over Arsenal and lead Group G, with the Gunners 2nd, although Porto shouldn’t be underestimated.

And in Group H it is tight between Milan, Lille and Anderlecht.

In the UEFA Cup group stages it is very early stages but Rangers, Spurs, Blackburn and Newcastle all had winning starts but there are some big clubs in this so called poor mans European competition such as Leverkusen, Sevilla, Parma, Ajax and Paris St Germain.
