"Deano was a giant. He played with elegance and composure and was a joy to watch. He was a star player with a Rolls-Royce engine. In the football community we're all stunned. You can't get your head round it. He was someone who brought joy to everyone and, if you knew him, played with him or worked with him, you knew what a character he was." - Chris Kamara
36-year old Dean Richards died after a long illness. Remembered for his trademark skilful breaks out of defence as well as his ability in the air, Richards will always be fondly remembered by Wolves fans who continued to follow his career closely when he moved on to Southampton and then a big money move in 2001 to Tottenham.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy said "I can't tell you how sad I feel for him and his family - 36 years of age. It is just devastating for them.
Ian Holloway added: "Dean lived a couple of doors down for me when I lived in St Albans. He was a wonderful fella, my love goes out to his family."
