The N&R Road to Wembley

Below is our full Road to Wembley starting in early August with little Oxhey Jets in Hertfordshire. They took us into the 1st Round proper, when Dulwich Hamlet and their famous pink shirts took the mantle for a round before losing to Hendon, who play in the shadow of Wembley Stadium.

AFC Telford, who were only reformed in 2005 beat Hendon, had a game abandoned (one of three they had this season!) at Northwich Victoria before losing to League One Southend, but only after a replay. AFC Telford were surprise winners of the Setanta Shield (The Conference League Cup) later in the season however.

Sarfend United beat poor Luton in the 2nd round and got a plum tie at Stamford Bridge in the 3rd. A last minute Peter Clark goal at Chelsea earnt the Shrimpers a replay and they even had the audacity to take the lead before the Blues whalloped in 4 goals to progress into the 4th Round as our team on the Road to Wembley.

And then Chelsea who became just our 6th and final team beat Ipswich, Watford and Coventry to make it to the semi-finals and despite going a goal down to Arsenal, deserved to win and now face Everton in the Final on Saturday.
