Goals from Dean Hammond, Alex Revell and Jake Robinson gave Brighton a straightforward win over our boys Stafford Rangers and therefore N&R inherit the gay boys from Brighton as our Road to Wembley team.
Brighton took the lead in the 18th minute. Skipper DEAN HAMMOND picked up the ball just outside the Stafford area and curled a shot into the bottom right corner, out of reach of the diving Danny Alcock. Stafford had their best spell at the start of the second half. Craig Lovatt had a shot blocked, Guy Madjo drove a free kick into the wall and Kevin Street went close with a couple of long-range drives.
ALEX REVELL as good as put the result beyond doubt in the 67th minute, heading home a cross from Sam Rents to double his side’s lead. Albion’s third goal in the 90th minute was scored on the break. The excellent Dean Cox put JAKE ROBINSON clear who slotted home with just Alcock to beat.
600 Stafford fans enjoyed their day out but were not good enough for Dean Wilkins charges.
Stafford team: Alcock, Sutton, Daniel, Murray, Talbott, Street R Gibson), Murphy, Lovatt (Basham), Edwards, Madjo Olaoye), Grayson.
Subs not used: Quailey, Barlow.
Attendance: 5,741.
The rather exciting news in N&R Towers on Sunday was that Brighton got drawn out of the 3rd Round hat to play West Ham away. We have a lot of Hamsters fans in the League and a couple of Brighton. Francey has already told me that he thinks Albion can win. Oh dear.
The game will be played at Upton Park on Saturday January 6th. More on Brighton soon.
